Magic material needed!

A doctor's office called today to complain about the streaking along the top of the image. They wondered if there was something wrong with my printer. When I told them it was caused by the metal crowns on ALL of the patient's lower teeth, they suggested I put something over the teeth "like a rubber dam or something" that will cover the crowns so that they won't show up like this in the image.

...I'm guessing they won't be sending me any more patients because of my shoddy work.

This is a great opportunity for you to offer that dental office a "Lunch N Learn" session. Schedule a time for you to take lunch to the doctor and staff to make a presentation about your i-CAT, at which time you can explain the 'starburst' effect of metal restorations. Along with their free lunch, they will get educated and should appreciate your efforts. Bonus points SCORED for your office and most likely a continued referral source.

If you can also do a few magic tricks at your "Lunch N Learn", it would definitely make a lasting impression. You will be surprised that adding a little humor (as in being a comedian)or "magic" can translate into a loyal referral source. I can show you a couple of easy card tricks.

You may have already "Lunch & Learned" with this guy. When they told me my scan wasn't as good as what they were used to getting, I asked him who usually does his scans. His response...GOLDEN STATE!

The doctors get used to viewing images from their local imaging center. When they order a scan from a different lab, the layout & window levels are usually different so the referrals think the images are not as good. The referrals have a routine to view images and when we disrupt that cycle, they sometimes jump to conclusions. It happens to me too! We have to explain to that particular doctor that the starburst effect would appear from any CT source.
