WIN 2000 updates?

Does anyone have a handle on what to do about all the WIN2000 updates that are available from Microsoft? I checked today and I have 25 high priority updates available. The last time I did an update, my computer wouldn't start, so I turned off the automatic update feature. Am I playing with fire!

Matt - First, I'd recommend you update all the computers that you have to Windows XP Pro--assuming the computer's got enough specs (CPU, RAM, Disk space, etc). XP Pro (with all ITS latest updates) has the best security around. That would be your safest bet.

If your system currently works with the existing software and it's not connected to the Internet, I'd leave it alone. But, if it's connected direclty to the Internet, I'd apply the updates. And yes, you might run into updates that might be incompatible with your system--or not. Apply them one by one systematically. Good luck.

That would be my two cents.

I don't think the i-CAT will run on XP.

Hi Matt:

Please don't apply any updates to the iCAT computer at this time. I need to find out more information and get back to you first. We ask that all iCAT Users always contact Imaging Sciences first when considering making any change to the Operating System. In fact, making such a change can potentially terminate the warranty on the computer. I will post another comment as soon as I know more details. Thanks.

Liz - When are we going to update our icat computers to Win XP? I know the new ones are using it...just one more thing on your list. Marcelle
