i-CAT Users Meeting

Since most of you will be at the AADMRT seminar at the Oakland Hilton Hotel on Saturday, April 28th, it also seems like a logical location for the i-CAT users meeting. A representative from Imaging Sciences International (ISI) will present on the latest development of i-CAT news. Chester Wang, the Director of Dolphin Imaging and Management will also make a presentation. The format will be the usual round table discussion that has worked well in past meetings. The hotel has a conference room that is available on April 29, Sunday from 8am -4pm. Note that this room had a capacity of ONLY 28 seats. Please indicate (in the comments section of this blog) if you are interested in attending the i-CAT users meeting. The Oakland Hilton has rooms available on Saturday night for $109.00 and is located approximately 15 minutes from the Oakland airport. There will be a charge based on the cost of the conference room/continental breakfast/lunch/beverages/AV equipment rental.

Go-Karting Event

Craig Dial and his son have been racing professional go-karts for many years and would like to see if we would be interested in doing a ½ day of go-karting at the Davis track (located 30 minutes from Sacramento). This offer is through a company named Rocket Motor Sports, and they will provide all the necessary equipment to go out and drive these karts - no previous experience necessary. Please indicate in the comments section if you would like to attend the Friday karting event. For those people who plan to fly in, if you arrange your flight early (before 8am) into Sacramento Airport, some of us can pick you up at the airport, drive you to the track event and then to Oakland for the AADMRT seminar so you will not have to rent a vehicle. If you are attending the i-CAT users meeting on Sunday, plan your flight out of Oakland airport too.

The karts are simple open wheeled scaled down race cars that have a top speed of 75-90mph, but they are geared to the track for a maximum speed of 55mph in order to take advantage of the low speed turns. You can drive as fast or slow as you feel comfortable, but no bumping is allowed, remember, these are NOT the carnival type cars you may have driven in the past.
The class would start promptly at 9:00am and will last till early afternoon. No food is provided, but there will be bottled water. Rocket Motor Sports charges $200.00 per driver and for that fee you will get a brief introduction of the kart, track, and rules, then he will let us out on the track with up to 10 karts at a time. We will break the group into half so one group can rest and watch while the other is on the track. Throughout the morning, Rocket will give lessons about the driving line, braking and acceleration, and other helpful hints to help improve your driving performance.

The equipment provided by Rocket will be the go-kart, gas, helmet, jacket, gloves, and neck brace. You will need long pants (preferably jeans) closed end shoes, and a short or long sleeve shirt. You may bring any of your own equipment as long as it meets IKF standards (International Karting Federation).

The go -kart class size will be limited to only 15 people. If you want to bring any of your own family with you to drive, then please add an additional $200 fee for each person and they will need to be at least 16 years old to participate. This is a very exciting and fun activity. For those of you living in snow country, this karting experience will be a welcome break to enjoy the warm sunny California sunshine and will also teach you valuable techniques that are applicable in everyday driving situations. Please indicate in the comments section if you would like to participate in the karting event.

I hope more people can come to the go-karting event. I know it is an extra out of the week, and Sacramento is not next to Oakland, but you will not be disappointed if you make the time. If you have questions, please contact me and I will be happy to help.

Hope to see you on the track…….

We are very fortunate that Imaging Sciences International has volunteered to host the i-CAT users meeting on April 29. Thank you ISI team for your continuous support and valuable resources.

Tentatively, Liz Qualtier and Mark Nguyen from ISI will make i-CAT presentations and we hope that Arun Singh will also be available.

Chester Wang from Dolphin Imaging and Management will provide the latest information regarding the Dolphin 3D software followed by the round table discussion.
