Filters

At the recent users meeting filters were mentioned. If people could let us know what filter's they are using for TMJ's, implants, etc.

Hi Marcelle and vickie im using Sharpen_ mild for both my implants and TMJ reports. But for .2 scans i do not use any filters. They tend to look more noisy if you use a filter

Below is a list of the filters I use regularly. They are in order of sharpness.

"Sharpen Super mild"
"Sharpen Mild"
"Angio Sharpen low 3x3"
"Sharpen"

I pretty much always do .4mm scans and use the mildest filter "Sharpen Super mild" for all my TMJs. I use either "Angio Sharpen low 3x3" or "Sharpen" for implants. I try the hardest sharpen, then back down one level at a time to see which looks best.

One nice little trick with filters is that you can remove them by pushing "Ctrl-N". Be sure to remember to remove any filters prior to exporting in DICOM.

ONE MORE THING

I hesitate to mention this because someone will get into trouble trying it and ISI will be mad at me for instigating this trouble...but...you can modify the Xoran.xml file so that the filters you use show up in order from top to bottom. If you want to know how to do it, call me or drop me an email.

Marcelle,
I use the sharpen Super mild for implants.
No filters for TMJ.
I tried the suggestion to use Sharpen for the pano. I like it.
