I have done some investigation, and here are the findings:

1. The upgrade process itself went smoothly, there were no problems during the upgrade.

2. One observed problem was the default window/level settings, that made the images look too bright initially when the data was loaded. This was corrected by making targetted adjustments in the XML file, we will make these adjustments automatically on future upgrades. Please note that this does not affect the original image qualtiy in any way.

3. Two out of 3 scans I observed utilized invalid combination of pixel/voxel sizes. The scan was performed for normal res (0.3 or 0.4 voxel), but was reconstructed at high res (0.25 or 0.2). These protocols apparently carried over from the previous XML file, not sure how they got in there. We will correct or delete the offending protocols.

Outside of the above, I did not find any obvious image quality problems. In general, I would highly recommend the upgrade due to its numerous benefits.

I had my upgrade done over the weekend and just finished my first patient. Other than a couple of small quirky things, it seems to live up to its promises as described by Arun at the spring meeting. At this point I would give it a thumbs up. I'll let you know if that rating changes after I do a few more patients.
