Scanning guidlelines for SimPlant

I would appreciate iCAT guidelines for scanning for SimPlant surgical guides. SimPlant's website is very general and does not include iCAT technology. Do I use the same techniques as NobeBiocare?-Thanks, Colleen Stauts

You will need to use a .4 scan and keep the teeth separated. You can ask your simplant rep to give you a protical sheet for more details.

Go to http://www.materialise.com/simplant/protocols_ENG.html click on "Scanning Protocol" for "English" and you'll get a nice guide. You simply position the patient in an upright position the same way they show. It's pretty simple. Have the occlusal surface parallel to the floor and make sure the bite is open.

Also, be sure to remove any filters before you save the data in DICOM format.

Coleen,

We do not do very many Simplant cases here, so I would take Matt's advice and go the the Simplat web site to answer the rest of your questions. Good Luck, and let us know how it went.
