Workflowoptimization ICAT-DOLPHIN

I hear so much that dolphin and icat are an optimal combination but untill now, we have the following stone age workflow: I-cat acquisition computer sends XORANFILES TO SEPERATE ICAT-SERVER. Than each scan has to be manually exported with icat vision transfer to a DICOM-FOLDER. Then we must again manually import the DICOMFILE INTO DOLPHIN.In my opinion this could l be vastly improved with small software measurements (scipting) like: When new patient is entered

1) The PraxisManagementSystem sends automatically PATIENT DATA TO ICAT-ACQUISITION COMPUTER AND DOLPHIN SERVER (only possibility to have congruent data)

2)WHEN XORAN FILES ARRIVE AT ICATSERVER, THEY ARE AUTOMATICALLY
2a) SAVED AS XORAN FILES and
2b) EXPORTED AS DICOM FILES DIRECTLY TO THE DOLPHIN SERVER

As I have the impression, that dolphinimaging and imaging sciences are completely insensitive to this workflow problem which slows our office I would very much appreciate if somebody can help with some suggestions.

You can directly import the icat vision root file into Dolphin. It does not have to be in the dicom format. Just pick it up from wherever your root file is - no need to export as dicom at all unless your doctor needs it for another 3rd party software. Hope this helps. Marcelle

The original post was submitted by Dr. Johann Wochl from Austria. Dr. Wochl is a dentist doing mostly implant restorations. The facility is located about 70km from Salzburg and also provides orthodontic care.

From the acquisition computer, we export as DICOM 3 single file, open up Dolphin, search for patient name, click on 3D and import DICOM. The entire procedure takes less than two minutes.

We do the same as Marcelle. Map a network drive to the root folder and Dolphin will grab the patient from there. Takes seconds.

That is a great suggestion! Thank you Marcelle and Matt! It works so much faster! Any other suggestions?
